When designing a business card, there are a few tips that will make the process go very smoothly when it arrives at our print shop. Please refer to our diagram below to guide you. You can download a template of this image below as a PDF that you can include as a layer in your design software to help guide your design.

Business Card Design Template, Kenwel Printers Inc.

  • A standard business card is sized 3.5″ (inches) in width by 2″ (inches) in height. This corresponds to the black line shown in our diagram above.
  • If you plan to include a color or image that extends to the very edge of the card, you will need to add an additional 0.125″ (1/8″) bleed. This is shown as the pink line in our diagram. We trim back the design to the black business card edge, and we need adequate extra image or color to assure quality.
  •  One and done. There’s no need to impose multiple card images on a page for us (e.g., eight up on a sheet.) From a production standpoint, we are better off having the individual, 3.5″ x 2″  design (with 0.125″ bleed as needed). This allows us to impose the image for setup depending on our production plan.  Setup is dependent upon the total number of cards we’ll be printing for your job as well as the press we’ll be using for the best possible quality and cost. You can leave this to us to assure the fastest production time.
